The Florida Panthers have won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in Game 7 on Monday night.

Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the MVP of the playoffs. He finished the night with 32 saves on 33 shots.

The Panthers took the lead in the first period on a goal by Carter Verhaeghe. The Oilers tied it up in the second period on a goal by Connor McDavid, but the Panthers regained the lead in the third period on a goal by Aleksander Barkov.

The Oilers pulled their goalie with about two minutes remaining in the game, but they were unable to score the equalizer.
