Blu-ray Criterion October Picks Include No Country for Old Men 4K, New 8½, and Paris, Texas!

Criterion Brings 4K Releases to October Blu-ray Lineup

The Criterion Collection has announced it's October releases for its loyal fanbase, which includes a batch of impressive 4K upgrades on Blu-ray along with new Blu-ray titles. These will be available on October 18th, 2022 at local retailers as well as directly from the Criterion Collection's website.

Criterion's continuing partnership with Sony Pictures allows the label to add some popular titles to its lineup with 4K releases coming for both No Country for Old Men and Paris, Texas. No Country for Old Men is the 2007 Coen brothers modern Western that won four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film stars Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Paris, Texas is Wim Wenders' 1984 film starring Harry Dean Stanton, Nastassja Kinski, and Dean Stockwell. It won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, tells the story about a man who has been missing for four years walking out of the desert and into his life.

On the Blu-ray front, Criterion has two exciting releases in the form of Federico Fellini's masterpiece and Robert Altman's McCabe & Mrs. Miller. is a semi-autobiographical film about a director struggling with a creative block and his personal life. The film stars Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimée, and Sandra Milo. McCabe & Mrs. Miller is a 1971 Western starring Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. The film follows the story of a gambler and a prostitute who team up to open a bordello in a small mining town.
