Champions League Lijnders Relies On Salzburg Style In Prague

Champions League: Lijnders Relies on "Salzburg Style" in Prague

Liverpool Assistant Praises Former Club's Approach

Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders has emphasized the importance of adopting the "Salzburg style" when the Reds face Sparta Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Lijnders, who spent four years at Salzburg before joining Liverpool in 2018, believes their aggressive and high-pressing style of play could prove effective against the Czech champions.

"We Will Play With Courage"

Lijnders said: "We will play with courage and try to dominate the game. We want to press them high and not give them time to play. This is the Salzburg style and it has been very successful for us in the past."

Liverpool have won their last two Champions League games, scoring eight goals in the process. They will be looking to maintain that form against Sparta Prague, who have lost their last two matches in all competitions.

Similarity to Lokomotiv Zagreb

Lijnders also drew parallels between Sparta Prague and Lokomotiv Zagreb, who Liverpool beat 3-0 in their opening Champions League group game.

"Both teams play with a similar style," he said. "They are very physical and they like to press high. We need to be prepared for a tough game."

Key Players

Liverpool will be without several key players for the game, including Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, Lijnders is confident that the team can still get the job done.

"We have a strong squad and we are confident that we can get a good result," he said.
