Newcastle United are reportedly set to terminate the contract of defender Emil Krafth, with a permanent move to another club ‘close’. The 28-year-old Sweden international has struggled for game time at St James’ Park since joining from Amiens in 2019, and is now surplus to requirements under Eddie Howe.

Why is Krafth leaving?

Krafth has made just 58 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions, and has fallen down the pecking order at right-back behind Kieran Trippier and Javier Manquillo.
